چکیده

A period from 1890 to 1930's roughly corresponds to active investigations in the United States into grooves on the occlusal surface of the teeth by such men as BLACK [5], BODECKER [6-9], HYATT [12-20] and DIAMOND[11]. Our concept of the morphology of the occlusal grooves has been developed and fostered by these pioneering workers. The occlusal grooves are usually of twofold : one is what is termed by these scholars as the developmental groove and the other is supplemental groove which branches off from the former. The developmental groove is distributed between the cusps of a tooth or between the cusp and marginal ridge. While the supplemental groove is fairly difficult of the macroscopic observation because of its morphological shallowness, the developmental groove enables us to examine it with relative ease. Embryologically, the genesis of developmental groove is explained that it corresponds to a coalescence between the developmental lobes during the process of enamel formation. When this coalescence is normal, it will result in relatively shallow grooves, whereas an abnormal coalescence of some sort will produce deeply cut ones. The

The Associated Factors of Permanent First Molar Caries in 7-9 Years Old Children

Introduction: Permanent first molar is the most important unit in the chewing system. Ear-ly loss of first molars can significantly reduce chewing efficiency, increase overbite, lead to premature eruption of the permanent second and third molars, and displacement of adjacent teeth. The purpose of this study was to determine the associated factors of permanent first molar caries in 7-9 years old...

Research Paper: Effect of asymptomatic erupted third molars on periodontal status and caries of adjacent second molars in Iranian population

Abstract Introduction: Third molars  are the last teeth to grow and require more attention in the oral cavity because they can leave pathological effects. Considering the controversy clinical decisions about asymptomatic third molars, dentists’ lack of attention to over third molars developed during therapeutic recom-mendations for patients, and limited evidence about the effects of asympt...

Multiple Hypercementosis: Report of a Rare Presentation

Abstract  Hypercementosis is identified by an excessive, non-neoplastic deposition of radicular cementum and is mostly presented as a solitary lesion or in rare cases as a multiple type. It usually occurs in the premolar and molar region of mandible with no sex predilection. In this paper, we reported a 57-year-old female patient with multiple radiopaque lesions affecting right maxillary second...

Isolation, Culture, and Characterization of Human Dental Pulp Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Introduction Based on previous researches, dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) are easily accessible with limited morbidity after collection. Their embryonic origin, from neural crests, explains their multipotency. DPSCs are primarily derived from the pulp tissues of the teeth. Objective: This study was undertaken to isolate, culture, and characterize two different third molar and first premolar hum...

On the other hand, because of it's special anatomic form, early eruption, lack of mother’s awareness about it’s eruption and misidentifying it from primary teeth, this tooth is very susceptible to caries. Its caries is an in...
